How often do you need to change contact lenses, and which are the best?

How often do contact lenses need to be changed? I’m talking about the long term ones, the hard and soft. And out of those two which are better? How many are there per box? Thanks.

I have worn both hard (perspex) and various soft types.
I am allergic to the silicon in some ‘long wear soft’ types. They go totally opaque from mucus in a few hours – making me almost blind.
I wore hard for 20 years with very few problems (they are much easier to care for) , then being recommended soft.
Hard lenses, if not worn for too many days at a time, need the eyes to ‘learn to cope’ again, or you will get reactions.
Soft are much kinder on the eyes, as they allow oxygen to pass thru, much more readily than hard.
Some types of soft lenses are ‘single wear’ – one day, others are almost ‘several days without changing (I am allergic to this type), while others can be worn many times, being cleaned after each wear. The better you clean them, and especially if you remove the protein, the more time you may be able to get – I get much longer than the recommended wear rates.
See a good Optometrist, if you can’t afford to go to an Eye Specialist. All your questions can be answered there. You also need to be very carefully measured to get the correct fitting, as well as the type that will cause you least problems.
There are many medical problems that you need to be checked for before contacts are suitable.

i prefer the soft contact lenses. i change them about once every one or two months. You usually get two boxes (one for each eye) and they have 8 individually packaged lenses in them. I’ve heard that hard contacts are less comfortable and your eyes can get dried out easier

Contacts must be changed every 2 years or 1 and half year.
Soft are better in my opinion but every case is particular and your doctor will tell you what the best for your eyes.
Come just one pair in a box, but you can buy other pair for replacement in case of losing.

They need to be changed once a month, and soft is better if you don’t want to wait forever to get used to the hard. There are usually 3 months worth of contacts in each box. But if you want to know exactly, look on the box.

Some are worn for 2 weeks at a time and some for a month or for a year and some are daily disposables. These would all be soft contact lenses. The hard aka gas permeable lenses are worn for at least a year. It all depends on your eye problem as to what is better and that is something your eye doc will decide for you.
