        The first is an Eye Doctor the second is licensed to dispense glasses and contacts.

          An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who will diagnose and treat diseases of the eyes. An optometrist is trained to screen for eye diseases and prescribe eye glasses and contact lenses.
